I’m not Presbyterian. Can I attend Holston Camp? Will I fit in?
ABSOLUTELY! Every year, campers of many faiths attend our programs. We do ask that all campers participate in Bible Study and worship activities. Jesus Christ, as the Word becomes flesh is central to our program. Our goal is to help others feel comfortable talking about, exploring and practicing their faith. Holston Camp welcomes persons of every race, color, gender, religion, nationality and handicap.

Can I visit the camp before I enroll?
Yes! Call (828) 898-6611 to arrange a tour. Also, check out our First Timers Camp for current 1st – 5th graders Camp April 27-29. Check out our Open House on Saturday, May 12.

When do camp sessions begin / end?
Full week programs begin Sunday with check-in at 2:00 pm. and end on Friday with pick-up at 7:00 p.m.

Can I come for more than one week?

Yes! Just complete an additional registration form or add a week on-line. Please note: Campers attending consecutive weeks of camp may not stay at Holston Camp over the weekend.

Who will my counselors be?
Everyone learns who their counselors are at check-in.

What kind of food is served?
We have a full time food service staff to provide well balanced nutritious meals in the dining hall. Breakfast is at 8, lunch at noon, then an afternoon snack, supper at 6 and a campfire dessert. Each group will make homemade ice cream. Groups living in Rustic will be provided the same food in coolers to cook their meals in their cook shelter.

What is your weather like?
Our average summer temperature is 70. It can get into the 50’s at night. Click here for an up-to-date forecast.

What should I bring to camp?
A complete list of what to bring to camp and what to leave at home is available as a download when you register on-line. It is also on our website.

Can my friend and I be together in the same cabin or group?
Yes! To be in the same group as your friend, write his or her name on the registration form in the space provided. While we cannot guarantee that every request will be filled, we will make every effort to do so. You may only request to be placed with one friend, and that friend must also request you on his or her registration form. Both campers must be in the same age group and be registered in the same camp.

Is financial assistance available?
Yes! We believe no child should miss out on the amazing opportunity a week of camp provides, due to financial hardship. Camperships are available through many churches. If your church does not offer camperships, please let us know and we will help.

Do I need a physical exam in order to attend summer camp?
Yes! So that we may comply with state and camping industry standards of operation, all participants must have had a physical exam within the 24 month period prior to the camp session. When you register on-line you can print a copy from the download section called Health Form.

Do you have medical staff on duty?
Yes! Our camp Doctor is only 1 ½ miles away in Banner Elk. Additionally, all of our staff are trained in First Aid and CPR. In preparation for summer camp, we invite the local Emergency Medical Services to our site so that they may become familiar with our layout and review our emergency plan. The local EMS station is located 1 mile from camp and the hospital is only 8 miles away.
